From Siemenssolar.com

D'après Kyocera la production en 1999 était répartie comme indiquée ci-dessous

Pour un total de 202.2 MW:%
BP Solarex (U.S.) 16.07
Kyocera (Japan) 14.99
Sharp (Japan) 14.84
Siemens (Germany) 10.98
Sanyo (Japan) 6.43
AstroPower (U.S.) 5.93
Photowatt (France) 4.95
Others 25.82

"If the top nine producers keep the same share of the market in 2001 as they did in '99 and '00, then our forecast of 2001 production of 350 megawatts seems conservative."

Paul Maycock - PVEnergy

2001 PV Production May Surpass 350 MW

WARRENTON, Virginia, US, 2001-12-04 [SolarAccess.com] Global production of solar photovoltaic could exceed 350 megawatts in 2001, according to a special advance release of findings in a leading international market survey.

In his annual survey of PV cell and modules shipments of major manufacturers around the world, Paul Maycock, publisher of 'PV NEWS,' says he has conservatively estimated production by the end of this year to reach 350 to 360 MW, an increase of more than 20 percent from 2000.

"After talking to presidents or marketing managers with virtually all of the photovoltaic producers, we can make a preliminary forecast for the PV cell and module production for calendar year 2001," he says in a special estimate released to SolarAccess.com. "Of the top producers, Sharp and Kyocera of Japan are expected to retain their world leadership. If the top nine producers keep the same share of the market in 2001 as they did in '99 and '00, then our forecast of 2001 production of 350 megawatts seems conservative."

The top nine companies produced 160 MW in 1999 and 235.3 MW last year, with an expected output of 299 to 310 MW by the end of this year, according to Maycock's data. Global production was 201.3 MW in 1999 and 287.7 MW last year.

Sharp is expected to produce 90 to 95 MW of PV this year, compared with 50.4 MW in 2000, he says. In 1999, that company had been in third spot with 30 MW production, while BP Solar was in top spot with 32.5 MW. Last year, BP Solar dropped to third place with 41.9 MW and will remain in third place this year with 50 MW of production. Kyocera has placed in second spot for all three years, with 30.3 MW in 1999, 42 MW in 2000 and an anticipated 65 to 70 MW this year, explains Maycock.

Following Sharp, Kyocera and BP Solar is Siemens Solar in fourth spot for the third year in a row, with annual production of 22.2 MW, 28 MW and 32 to 35 MW respectively. Other PV manufacturers with their 1999, 2000 and expected 2001 output are:

- Astropower: 12 MW, 18 MW, 25 to 30 MW

- Sanyo: 13 MW, 17 MW, 22 to 25 MW

- RWE (ASE): 10 MW, 14 MW, 20 MW

- Photowatt: 10 MW, 14 MW, 15 MW

Production for Mitsubishi in 1999 is not known, but was 12 MW last year and is expected to be 15 MW this year.

The final results of the survey will be published in the February issue of PV NEWS and added to the market research reports published by PV NEWS' parent Photovoltaic Energy Systems Inc.

Each year for the past 20 years, PV NEWS has surveyed the solar photovoltaic industry to obtain data on production by company, country and cell technology.
